Talk to the machine.
Let it look, then cut.

A tablet next to the laser, with a camera watching the bed. It sees what's on it —a fresh sheet, an offcut, half a board— and you tell it out loud what to do with it. No mouse, no files, no walking back to the PC.

This doesn't exist yet

It's not a beta: it's internal development, and it's far from working. You can't install it or request it. This page is here so you know where Nofacto is headed, not to sell you something we can't give you.

When it arrives
  • Comes with Ultra
  • Tablet with a camera
  • Opens from the browser
  • Spoken, not typed
  • No date. It'll be ready when it's ready.

The machine stops being blind

Today you send a file and trust the sheet is where you think it is. The idea flips that: the camera looks at the bed first, recognizes what's there and what it's made of, and from then on «cut this there» actually means something.

Idea · not a real screen
1 · Look

The tablet points at the bed. Whatever is on it is the starting point, not a file.

2 · Recognize

It measures the offcut and guesses the material. Now it knows what it's dealing with and how much room there is.

3 · Nest and cut

It fits what you ask for inside that specific piece, not on an imaginary sheet.

And you just say it

Whoever is at the machine has their hands full and, often, dirty. Typing there doesn't happen. The idea is to say it out loud, the way you'd tell a helper who knows how to look.

Idea · how you'd talk to it

«Cut Ana's file on the sheet that's on the bed.»

«Cut thirty pieces from the 3 mm acrylic offcuts.»

«From that offcut over there, get me twelve keychains.»

Why voice and not touch

With gloves on and the machine running, a touchscreen gets in the way. Voice is the only thing that works with your hands full.

Why it needs the camera

Without seeing the bed, «there» means nothing. Vision is what turns a loose sentence into an order with a place, a size and a material.

And nothing gets cut without confirming

Before firing it will show on the tablet what it understood and where it will land. A machine that obeys a misheard sentence burns material.

And this is where it really stands

No makeup, because I'd rather you learn it here than after waiting for it.

Halfway

Seeing and measuring

Recognizing an offcut on the bed and measuring it is the furthest along. In good light it gets it right; in shop light, not always.

Understanding what you say

Turning a loose sentence into a job with its file, quantity and material is the hard part, and it's a long way off.

Sending the cut to the machine

Getting a spoken order to end in a real cut goes through Studio, and that bridge isn't built yet.

There's nothing to install yet

When it works it will come with Ultra, like the rest of the team apps. Meanwhile, check out the ones you can already use.
